KUALA LUMPUR 10 Nov -The launch of UCSI University's new Kawai Music Lab will have an impact on the next generation of aspiring musicians.

The music lab is equipped with 15 state-of-the-art digital pianos from the famous Japanese musical instrument maker, Kawai, which is worth RM90,000.

The lab is sponsored by Music Bliss Sdn Bhd, one of the leading instrument retailers in Malaysia, in an effort to expand UCSI's strong relationship with the industry.

UCSI Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Tapsir said that the laboratory is another achievement for UCSI's Muzki Institute - the 21st best-performing arts school in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023

"The launch of the Kawai Lab promises to further enhance our position in the arts. We look forward to witnessing the transformative impact of this lab on the future of music at UCSI," he said in a media statement here today.

Meanwhile, Kawai Malaysia’s ambassador and UCSI alumnus, Maxy Chan, graced the opening event and delivered an incredible performance.

Maxy said returning to UCSI for the show brought back fond memories since graduating in 2018 and brought her joy to reunite with her former lecturers.

"Dedicated lecturers sharing their insights and experiences in guiding me through the music industry really helped me to become a better musician.

"The excellent concert hall and grand piano also provided a platform to showcase my abilities and helped fulfill the study and performance experience I had at UCSI.

"I'm excited to see UCSI continue to grow and become more well-rounded in nurturing rising musicians," he said.

Classified in the top %1 of the world based on its top 300 rankings, UCSI stands out as one of Asia's best private universities in the QS World University Rankings 2024. -
