Yim Shanhui - Artist

Yim Shanhui, an internationally award winning pianist and singer-songwriter, embarked on her musical journey at a young age under the influence of her mother, whose expertise in music education. This early experience ignited her passion for music, resulting in excellence in both piano and vocal performances. Achieving ATCL and LTCL diplomas in piano performance from Trinity College, London, at the ages of 15 and 17, Shan has garnered recognition, securing gold awards in prestigious international competitions such as the Beijing International Piano Competition and the 7th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival. Recently, she emerged as the champion in the 2024 Shanghai Piano Competition.

Refining her skills through masterclasses with esteemed international pianists like Prof. Graham Caskie, Dr. Orsolya Szábo, Prof. Murray Mc Lachlan and Dr. Mikhail Kazakevich, Shan has graced renowned concert halls, including London’s Menuhin Hall, Horowitz Recital hall in Shanghai Steinway and Sons and The Beijing Central Conservatory of Music.

Notably, she received the best instructor award at the age of 18 as an arranger and choreographer, leading the Malaysia Team in filming the CCTV 1 Annual Chinese New Year Gala 2020 in Beijing.

Currently in her third year, pursuing a Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons.), majoring in piano performance, Shanhui has broadened her artistic horizons into contemporary music and composing. Her debut single, “What If It Was You,” has captured the interest of recording labels and even featured on RTM live television broadcast and was invited for an interview.

As she explores and experiments with different facets of music, she is currently gearing up for the release of her next single, “Bittersweet Symphony”. While committed to her studies, Shan is poised to make a significant impact in the music industry.
